Authority

You decide what Sabina may do, what needs your approval, and what stays with your team.

Teaching her more about the business improves her understanding. It does not give her permission to take on new actions by herself.

Written authority

The real question about giving company AI responsibility is what happens when it does something I didn’t sanction?

Accuracy is not an answer to that; written authority is.

So authority is something you hand her, in writing, one capability at a time, and take back the same way. Below: how a request is checked against what you allowed, and how you write the rules once.

What she is not authorized to do

The gate, walked through.

Take one illustrative request and follow it. A caller asks for a discount. This shows the authority design between the asking and anything at all being done about it.

One illustrative request

A caller asks for a discount.

  1. 1The request arrives. It is written down first — who asked, for what, on which job — before it is acted on, because the record is the thing each later step is checked against.
  2. 2It is checked against the grants she holds. Not against her judgment of what a reasonable person would do. Against the sentences you sent her: which capabilities you named, and which treatment you gave each. The check is performed on each action, and it reads your words, not her inference about them.
  3. 3One of three things follows.

Inside a grant that lets her act, she acts, and the record names the grant.

Inside a grant that requires a yes, she proposes the specific act and waits.

Outside each grant she holds, it comes back to you as a question — not as an action taken on a guess.

  4. 4The record closes the entry. What was asked, what she was cleared to do, what she did, and which grant covered it. When you ask why something went out, the answer is a document, not a reconstruction.

What is missing from the walk

The point of the walk is what is missing from it. At no step does what she has learned about your business widen what she is authorized to do in it. That separation is a chapter of its own, on whose she is.

Six treatments

Granted against one capability at a time.

  • Watch only

She observes and records the ground truth. She does not compose or act.

  • Compose only

She drafts. Nothing leaves without a person sending it.

  • Per-act approval

She proposes a specific action and waits for a yes on that act.

  • Scoped autonomy

She acts inside a boundary you wrote, and outside it she stops.

  • Owns the outcome

The result is hers to deliver, and the record shows how she delivered it.

  • Coordinates work

She directs the sequencing of work across people and steps.

These are the authority treatments we use to define a role, not a claim that every treatment is enabled for every capability. The current governed-record path is supervised. Independent action and coordination must be confirmed for the specific work before they are included in your scope. A written instruction needs ratification on its supported path; sending an email alone does not activate production authority.

A disposition is granted against a single capability, so on any given morning she may own the outcome on collections follow-up and be watch-only on pricing.

These are not ranks and there is no order to them. Nothing she does earns her a promotion. Authority moves when you move it, and only when you move it.

What you tell her once

Plain-language rules. Explicit authority.

You write it to her in plain English, in the terms you use to explain what they’re cleared to handle. The instruction identifies the capability and its boundaries.

Ratification is a separate step on the supported path: confirm what was granted and when it takes effect. The resulting grant can be read back and checked against the work.

A grant, as written

Sabina — from today you may move an appointment to another day in the same week without asking me, if the customer asks for it. Anything that moves a job to a different week, ask me first. Don’t promise a crew size. — M.

Its revocation, three weeks later

Sabina — until further notice, ask me before moving any appointment, same week or not. — M.

Fig. I — Illustrative instructions requesting a bounded grant and its revocation. They do not activate authority by appearing here or by being sent without ratification.

You can request a change or revocation in the same plain language. Confirm its effective state on the supported path. A rule stands until it is changed or withdrawn; knowledge, repeated behavior and a one-time approval do not create a new grant.

What this is not

Approving something once does not make it hers from then on. A yes to one act is a yes to that act. Standing authority is a sentence you wrote, never a habit she picked up.

Decide what she may handle first.

One capability, written in a sentence, is a real place to start. Bring it to your meeting with Mark.

Start with the seven-step operational assessment. If you enter a public website, its address is sent to begin research. Other answers are sent with your contact details when you choose Meet Sabina or ask for the meeting with Mark.
